Kochhar: in support of a vital charity

The acclaimed Indian chef Atul Kochhar will host a dinner in aid of industry charity Hospitality Action next month, bringing together fellow patrons for a five-course feast.

Also cooking at the event are Cyrus Todiwala, Charlie Hodson, Vivek Singh and Simon Rimmer, each of whom will serve a course at Kochhar’s Mayfair venue Kanishka.

The dining experience is being put on to raise funds for Hospitality Action’s work in supporting those who work in the industry but who have fallen on difficult times.

An announcement said the Indian chefs involved — Kochhar, Todiwala, and Singh — will aim to “highlight the excellence of modern Indian cuisine”, while Hodson will shine a spotlight on produce from Norfolk and Rimmer will focus on English flavours.

On the menu are dishes such as kafir sea bass with asparagus, butter chicken, and pecorino arancini, and a lamb rump and pea samosa with spinach.

Kochhar, the first Indian chef to ever win a Michelin star, at Tamarind in 2001, said: “Hospitality can be a stressful place to work, so thankfully our trade charity, Hospitality Action, is here to provide help, advice and support to all hospitality people when times get tough.

“I am honoured to be a patron of the charity and am thrilled to be hosting a fundraising dinner at Kanishka to support their crucial work."

Founded in 1837, Hospitality Action helps industry professionals with everything from physical illnesses to mental wellbeing issues, as well as financial difficulties and problems with addiction.

Anyone, whether Michelin-starred chef to part-time waiter, qualifies for support if needed.

Tickets are priced at £95 per person, with an optional £55 per person wine pairing. All proceeds from ticket sales will go to Hospitality Action. Book here.
